I was honored to be invited by the Informatics Engineering Student Association (HIMA-TI) of UIN Ar-Raniry to be a lead instructor for their intensive "3 Days FullStack Development: From Analysis To Deployment" workshop.

The workshop aimed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world industry practices, giving 30 selected participants hands-on experience in building their first web application from the ground up.

Event Summary & Context

  • Event Title: 3 Days FullStack Development: From Analysis To Deployment

  • Organizer: Informatics Engineering Student Association (HIMA-TI) UIN Ar-Raniry

  • My Role: Lead Instructor for Day 1 & Day 2 material

  • Target Audience: 30 university students and IT enthusiasts eager to gain practical software development experience.

  • Date & Venue: September 1-2, 2025, at the Multifunction Lab (AI & VR) UIN Ar-Raniry.

Topics I Covered

Over the first two days, I was responsible for building the participants' foundational understanding of two main pillars of software development: core software engineering and user interface/user experience (UI/UX) design.

Day 1: Software Development & Database Fundamentals On the first day, my focus was to provide a fundamental understanding of how software is planned and how data is managed. The key points included:

  • Introduction to IT & Software: Breaking down the fundamentals of software development, popular methodologies like Waterfall, and an overview of career opportunities in the tech industry.

  • Database Design with ERD: Teaching participants to think structurally about data, from understanding Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERD) and their elements to reading and creating them.

  • Hands-On Workshop: Participants immediately applied their knowledge by analyzing the requirements for a "Task Manager App" case study and designing their own ERD from a project brief.

Day 2: Diving into UI/UX Design Fundamentals On the second day, the session continued by translating the analyzed requirements into a functional and user-friendly visual design. The key points included:

  • UI vs. UX Fundamentals: Explaining the differences and relationship between UI & UX, as well as industry-standard design processes.

  • Mastering Figma & Design Systems: An introduction to the primary design tool (Figma) and key concepts like design systems, typography, color, and component libraries to maintain design consistency.

  • Hands-On Design Workshop: Participants conducted simple research, created user personas, mapped user flows, and translated them from wireframes to high-fidelity designs for the "Task Manager App" using Figma Autolayout and interactive prototyping techniques.

Impact & Results

This workshop was designed to be highly interactive, where every theoretical session was immediately followed by hands-on practice. The participants' enthusiasm was remarkably high, evident from the numerous questions and the quality of the designs they produced in just two days. This served as proof that the "learning by doing" approach is highly effective for technical topics.
